Position
Juniper Group is looking for a Business Development Associate to join our Mergers & Acquisitions deal sourcing team in Toronto. The Business Development Associate will be responsible for sourcing, qualifying, nurturing, and managing a pipeline of acquisition opportunities for our internal M&A team.
The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of thriving and surpassing targets in a fast-paced enterprise SaaS sales or deal sourcing environment, have an entrepreneurial spirit, be an independent thinker, and detail oriented. In addition, they should possess 2+ years of relevant experience in sales development or business development (including deal sourcing, cold-calling, pitching).
The Business Development Associate will build relationships with C-suite executives, investment bankers, Private Equity & Venture Capital funds, and other senior leaders, across a variety of industries and geographies, to identify and nurture attractive M&A opportunities that could grow our existing portfolio of software companies.
Experience in M&A, PE, or VC is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Engage in meaningful dialogue with software company owners, shareholders, other stakeholders, and their representatives
- Establish, maintain, and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders of software businesses that meet our investment criteria to progress prospective targets through the deal sourcing pipeline
- Analyze, manage, and search our existing CRM database for available prospects and stale leads that should be nurtured
- Identify new opportunities that meet our investment criteria and add companies and contacts to our CRM database
- Plan, develop, and conduct prospecting campaigns through LinkedIn, email, calling, attendance at trade shows, and in-person meetings
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in enterprise SaaS sales and/or M&A, PE, or VC deal sourcing
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or a related field is preferred
- Previous use of a CRM platform (ideally Salesforce)
- Strong interpersonal skills both in-person and remotely
- Self-motivated with a drive to surpass targets
- Ability to work autonomously and communicate effectively within a team
- Capable of continuously managing a large pipeline while maintaining attention to detail
- Advanced time management, organizational, analytical, and strategic thinking skills
- Flexible with the ability to respond to changing priorities, pressures, and demands
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
- Willingness to travel to meet with companies and attend tradeshows as needed
