Job Title: Construction Estimator (2-Year Contract | Public Sector)
Location: Onsite – Toronto Area (Hybrid after training)
Employment Type: Full-Time Contract (35 hours/week)
Contract Term: 2 Years, with possible extensions up to 2 additional years (1-year increments)

Job Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support a public sector organization’s capital procurement team. This full-time, long-term contract role focuses on cost estimation and change management for large-scale infrastructure projects including transit-related construction, building systems, and utilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare various types of cost estimates: conceptual, feasibility, budget, control, change orders, claims, and value engineering
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for all major disciplines: architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical
- Analyze contractor and supplier quotes for proposed changes and claims
- Collaborate with internal engineering and commercial teams, as well as external consultants
- Review and prepare documentation such as payment breakdowns, pricing schedules, and “basis of estimate” reports
- Maintain estimate files and work records in accordance with established procedures
- Support project execution by validating scope, cost impacts, and construction changes
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related discipline (e.g., Construction, Engineering, Quantity Surveying), or equivalent work experience
- Proven 5+ years experience preparing cost estimates on complex construction projects (preferably in the public or infrastructure sector)
- Strong understanding of the Ontario Construction Act, relevant building codes, and union/trade agreements
- Ability to independently perform quantity take-offs from technical drawings and specifications
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and relevant estimating software/tools
- Experience working with change order pricing, claims support, and procurement teams
Work Schedule & Conditions:
- 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Role is primarily onsite, with up to 3 days/week remote work allowed after initial training and subject to approval.
- All remote work must be performed within the province of Ontario.
