Compensation: $50000.00 to $55000.00 yearly

Robert Half Finance and Accounting is working with an international company in finding their next Bilingual Accounts Payable Specialist to be responsible for their North- and South American accounts payable operations. You will manage everything from matching vendor invoices to supporting documentation, and coding and entering vendor payables into the accounting systems, and completing month end AP procedures in a timely manner. This is a bilingual role and requires verbal and written fluency in English, and French
This role operates in a challenging and high volume environment, however, it is a great opportunity for someone who has a worked a couple of years in a full cycle AP capacity, or the more senior AP professional who is looking for the next step in your career. This role is located in Markham, Ontario.

Your responsibilities in this role:

*Match vendor invoices to supporting documentation and agreed terms and check for appropriate authorization.
*Code and enter vendor payables into accounting system
*Produce and review cheques, matching backup and preparing package for cheque signing and EFT payments
*Verify and process corporate credit card transactions and employee expenses
*Prepare and post AP accruals at month-end
*Investigate issues on a timely basis and resolving as appropriate
*Respond to all vendor enquiries
*Reconcile accounts as necessary
*Reconcile the AP subledger to GL according to month-end schedule
*Provide monthly AP aging report to Accounting Manager to review
*Monitor incoming emails to the AP shared mailbox to ensure the prompt response to vendor inquiries
*Resolve all discrepancies that may occur during verification process by maintaining contacts with suppliers and internal contacts
*Develop and document standard operating procedures
*Suggest and make recommendations for process improvements

Job Requirements:
*College/University degree/diploma in Accounting or similar field
*Enrollment in a professional accounting designation program is preferred
*Excellent communication skills – verbal and written fluency in English, and French.
*1-3 years of full cycle accounts payable experience
*Self-motivated and willing to take initiative.
*Experienced with ERP systems, preferably Sage
*Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
*Able to handle tight deadlines and work under pressure
*Attention to detail
*Able to work effectively on their own and in a team environment
