Our client is a national not-for-profit organization that works closely with businesses, partners, and stakeholders across Canada. They are currently seeking a Lawyer to join their Legal team and provide strategic legal guidance across the organization.

The Job
Reporting to the General Counsel, this role will provide legal guidance and support, with a focus on procurement, supplier, and vendor agreements. You will be joining a collaborative and growing legal team of 7 professionals, including legal support and compliance specialists. The team works closely together in a supportive environment and partners with stakeholders across the organization to manage an increasing volume of legal and contractual matters.
You will also:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a range of agreements.
- Provide practical legal advice related to contract negotiation, drafting, and review.
- Research and monitor legal developments, legislative requirements, and legal trends affecting the organization.
- Identify legal risks and support the development of strategies to mitigate them.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and business partners across the organization.
- Support the Legal Office strategic priorities and assist with special projects as assigned.
- Exercise sound judgement and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential matters.
- Translate complex legal concepts into clear and practical guidance for stakeholders.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws and regulations impacting the business.
What you bring to the job:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Juris Doctor (JD), or equivalent law degree.
- Licensed to practice law in Ontario and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Minimum 5 years of experience practicing law within a law firm and/or in-house environment.
- Experience within a not-for-profit, academic, or association environment is preferred.
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating procurement and commercial agreements, including RFPs, MSAs, SoWs, and vendor contracts.
- Knowledge of legal issues affecting not-for-profit organizations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear and practical advice.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and contract management tools.
