Learning and Development Specialist (18-Month Contract)

About the Role:

Mother Parkers is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Learning and Development Specialist for an 18-month contract to support the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of company-wide learning initiatives. This role is critical in building organizational capability, enhancing employee experience, and supporting the development of our workforce across manufacturing, corporate, and commercial environments.

The Learning and Development Specialist will develop learning content, coordinate training programs, maintain our Learning Management System (Cornerstone), and partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality, effective learning outcomes. This is a key role in enabling a culture of continuous learning, performance excellence, and organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Learning Program Development

• Design and maintain learning content including facilitator guides, participant workbooks, e-learning modules, job aids, and scenario-based activities

• Apply adult learning principles and the 70/20/10 framework to develop capability-building roadmaps that support business transformation

• Identify, select, and manage training vendors to deliver learning solutions aligned with organizational needs

Program Coordination & Support

• Coordinate training logistics including scheduling, enrollment, room and technology setup, and course communication

• Develop and deploy evaluation tools, analyze feedback, and recommend enhancements to drive learning effectiveness

• Track program deliverables and provide regular reporting on progress, milestones, and KPIs

• Prepare documentation and reports to support internal and external audits

• Collaborate with HR on broader talent programs including onboarding, recruitment, benefits, and performance management

Learning Management System (LMS) Administration

• Govern LMS processes and ensure alignment with long-term learning strategies

• Oversee daily Cornerstone LMS operations including content updates, feature deployment, troubleshooting, and user support

• Analyze LMS data to identify adoption opportunities and recommend system or content improvements

• Facilitate regular check-ins with system vendors and internal teams to address training needs and strengthen LMS utilization

Collaboration & Leadership:

• Team Size: No direct reports; collaborates with HR, operations, and functional SMEs

• Internal Collaboration: All levels of employees across corporate and manufacturing environments

• External Collaboration: Training vendors, system suppliers, and audit partners

• Leadership Expectations: Acts as a trusted learning advisor; fosters a culture of continuous improvement, capability-building, and knowledge sharing

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Adult Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field

• 3+ years of experience in learning and development or instructional design

• Minimum 2 years of experience administering a learning management system (Cornerstone preferred)

• Strong technical aptitude, including Articulate Storyline and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Experience in a manufacturing environment with familiarity in safety, quality, and production processes

• Excellent communication and customer-service skills with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships

• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
