About the Opportunity

Synthesis Health is looking for a stellar Database Architect to shape, secure, and scale our data systems. Working closely with engineers, product managers, and DevOps to ensure Synthesis has robust data solutions that are high-performing and scalable.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust database solutions using PostgreSQL, MongoDB, AlloyDB, and cloud storage systems.
  • Optimize database performance and ensure high availability and scalability across systems for both PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Develop, review, and maintain secure and efficient database code.
  • Implement and uphold best practices for database security and access controls.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and proactively resolve database performance issues.
  • Tune PostgreSQL memory buffers and ensure appropriate working memory for sorting of query results.
  • Ensure effective use of PostgreSQL / MongoDB indexes by workload queries.
  • Create and tune queries / indexes for PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Optimize backups and restores for PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Collaborate with developers and product teams to model data schemas aligned with application requirements.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide guidance on best practices for data access and storage.
  • Contribute to automation and CI / CD pipelines for database deployments.
  • Familiar with Disaster recovery best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About the Right Candidate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or other relevant degree.
  • Three years of experience as a database architect or similar role.
  • Background in analytical (OLAP) and transactional (OLTP) paradigms.
  • Knowledge of cloud storage concepts and integrations.
  • Proficiency in designing and managing PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis in production.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years of experience as a database architect or similar role.

  • Compensation and Benefits

    Compensation is paid in the currency of the country where the individual is hired. For this position, the salary range is $100,000 – $125,000 CAD for Canadian based employees. For global hires, salary range will align with market rates in home country.

    Other benefits include but not limited to : Medical, Dental, Vision, “Use as needed” vacation policy, and participation in our employee option program.
