Contract Duration: 12 month contract, with strong potential for renewal

Location: Calgary (Hybrid)

Must Have: 5+ years in Environmental Planning and a Bachelors in related field

Rate: $48.00 per hour

Must be available to start ASAP

Job Summary:

• Coordinate environmental assessments including, fish and fish habitat assessments, wildlife surveys, federal, provincial, and local permitting and environmental compliance activities for numerous projects including greenfield and brownfield simultaneously

• Collaborate with internal groups responsible for land, community relations, Indigenous relations, regulatory, legal, and project teams to identify and resolve issues, execute project plans and schedules, and support the integration of environment considerations into project planning

• Provide technical environmental advice to inform risk identification and mitigation strategies, environmental mitigation and contingency planning in compliance with TC Energy’s Environment Program, and applicable regulatory, commercial and contractual requirements

• Recruit and manage consultants when required; prepare and/or assist in the preparation of Request for Proposals and evaluate responses; negotiate consultants’ work scope, budget and schedule; and provide ongoing management of consultants’ work

• Document, communicate and report environmental issues, incidents of non-conformance and non-compliance, and opportunities for improvement; and

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, earth sciences, geography, biodiversity or related fields

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing environmental planning and permitting for pipelines and other energy projects, including environmental planning, project management, permitting and environmental compliance

• Experience with CER applications including Sections 214, 183 and 45.1 of the OPR

• Strong knowledge of pipeline integrity programs and construction methods

• Examples of extra curriculars and taking initiative

• Experience in federal regulatory, environmental planning and permitting, contaminated sites or governance within the energy or infrastructure sectors.

• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

• Understanding of environmental regulatory frameworks and reporting requirements for the energy industry.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables in a dynamic work environment.

• Exceptional time management and prioritization skills to efficiently respond to regular unanticipated scope and schedule changes

• Manage numerous complex projects simultaneously with tight, and sometimes conflicting deadlines, while being prepared to take on additional break-in work as may be necessary to respond to competing priorities.
