Job Overview:
The incumbent will be responsible for general security supervision/mentoring/training of subcontracted guards and other security services (i.e. drug dogs, security technicians etc.). The candidate will also be the primary investigator for security incidents occurring on site. The candidate will be on a 14-7 rotation.
Base Salary Range: $124,000 – 160,500 (The range provided is for base salary only (40 hours per week). In addition, McDermott offers additional contracted hours, and a competitive total rewards package, including project up-lift & bonuses)
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Where required, assume Site Security Lead (SSL) duties if both the Site Security Lead and Deputy Site Security Lead are absent (i.e. illness, vacation etc.)
- Directly supervise, mentor and train (where necessary) contracted guards at the various WLNG Project site locations. Ensure that guards are performing tasks as outlined in Post Orders and other security documentation.
- Regularly review and update Post Orders as necessary
- Oversee specialty guard functions such as access control, random searches, CCTV monitoring, mobile patrols etc.
- Lead and assist with/oversee drug detection dog inspections and searches
- Lead and assist with oversight of other contraband interdiction activities
- Resolve issues or conflicts at Site access points regarding ID badges, Visitors and Equipment, Tools and Material Passes (ETMP)
- Respond to security incidents within the Floatel and on the Main Site, take control of the incident and the necessary actions to resolve the situation
- Conduct security investigations and write detailed investigation reports for presentation to the Project’s Consequence Management Committee
- Oversee security statistics collection for his/her areas of responsibility, as directed by the SSL
- Oversee security intelligence collection and correlation
- Assist with and lead the implementation of the Project Security Education and Awareness Program. This will include, but not be limited to, attending Safety Toolbox meetings with other contractors on site, developing and giving presentations on a variety of security topics and writing Security Site Bulletins for distribution across site.
- Support and lead site Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) initiatives within the Security Team
- Assist with emergencies at the Floatel, Marine Offloading Facility (MOF) or on the Main Site
- Prepare a variety of security reports
- Assist the MDR Security Team with processing security documentation (i.e. Visit requests, camera passes, ETMP etc.) as required
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Minimum 10 years policing experience
- Minimum 5 years in a police supervision or police management role
- Strong investigative background and formal training
- Strong background in training
- Strong knowledge of core security principles
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Willing to work either Night Shift or Day Shift.
- Willing and able to work in a remote, camp style environment.
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience working with or supervising contracted guards
- Previous experience on major construction projects and/or working on an oil/gas site
- Training and qualifications as a Marine Facility Security Officer (MFSO)
- A background in Safety and/or Emergency Response
- Strong interpersonal, listening and communications skills, with the capacity to build trust among internal and external stakeholders
- Established track record as a self-starter with the ability to work and succeed without direct supervision
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in high-stress and challenging environments
- Team player – ability to influence without authority, and support the success of a team
- Must have excellent English verbal and writing language skills
