Business Analyst

Trading/Equities & Fixed Income

Location: Toronto, ON (hybrid)

Type: Contract through October 2026 and possible extension or full-time conversion

We are seeking a highly skilled Trading Business Analyst with deep knowledge of the end-to-end trade lifecycle across Equities and Fixed Income products, and strong experience working with the FIX protocol. This role requires a blend of high-level business acumen and the ability to write detailed, technical specifications. You will collaborate with both business stakeholders and technology teams to capture, analyze, and document current and future state requirements and help deliver best-in-class trading solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Elicit, document, and manage business and technical requirements from a variety of stakeholders.
  • Lead and facilitate business requirements sessions, set agendas, drive discussions, take minutes, and follow up with relevant documentation.
  • Analyze and document current state and future state business and technical processes (e.g. trade flows, file/report layouts).
  • Create high-quality User Stories, Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), and Functional Specifications, including FIX protocol-level message specs.
  • Work closely with trading desks, operations, compliance, and technology to understand needs and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • Ensure traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle and support testing and validation phases.
  • Work on both Equities and Fixed Income initiatives, with a strong preference for candidates experienced in Fixed Income.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, or Finance; specialization in Finance preferred.
  • Relevant financial certifications such as CSC, CIM, CFA (or in progress).
  • 5+ years of Business Analysis experience in a retail trading or capital markets environment.
  • Proven experience with FIX protocol, including writing message specifications and understanding order lifecycle messaging.
  • Deep understanding of the trade lifecycle for Equities and Fixed Income, including trade capture, booking, confirmation, and settlement processes.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts to both business and technical audiences.
  • Experience creating detailed documentation including technical process diagrams, report/file layouts, and data mapping documents.
  • Strong facilitation and leadership skills in stakeholder meetings and workshops.
  • Prior consulting experience (e.g., EY, Capco, Deloitte) is a strong plus.
