Description
We’re seeking an experienced Analytics Developer (Splunk Developer) to support our client, a large public utility, in advancing its enterprise analytics, monitoring, and security visibility capabilities. This role focuses on Splunk platform engineering, data ingestion and normalization, dashboard development, and alert optimization to strengthen operational insights and cyber resilience across critical infrastructure systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in building scalable, compliant, and high-performing analytics solutions that drive informed decision-making and proactive incident response.
Location & Work Hours
- Location: Remote, aligned with CST time zone
- Start/End: November 1, 2025 – October 31, 2028 (29 months)
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST
- Availability: Primarily remote, with potential for periodic onsite visits as required.
Mandatory Education & Experience
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 8–10+ years of progressive IT experience, with a strong focus on Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Cloud, and analytics solutions.
- Proven experience in Splunk data onboarding, parsing, indexing, CIM compliance, and app deployment.
- Hands-on expertise with dashboard and visualization design using SPL (Search Processing Language) and Splunk Enterprise Security.
- Demonstrated background in security information and event management (SIEM), log management, and monitoring automation.
- Experience supporting critical infrastructure or regulated environments (utility, energy, or government preferred).
- Solid understanding of incident management, root cause analysis, and performance tuning in large-scale analytics systems.
Desired Certifications
- Splunk Certified Power User or Splunk Certified Administrator.
- Splunk Certified Architect or Splunk Core Certified Consultant (asset).
- CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent security certification (asset).
- ITIL v4 Foundation certification (asset).
- NERC Personnel Risk Assessment eligibility, as required by SaskPower.
Preferred Experience
- Experience developing custom Splunk apps, dashboards, and automation workflows using SPL and Python.
- Integration of Splunk with service management, ticketing, and SOAR platforms.
- Knowledge of data analytics pipelines, log normalization, and machine learning toolkits within Splunk.
- Familiarity with cloud-based logging and analytics solutions (e.g., Azure Monitor, Sentinel, or AWS CloudWatch).
- Experience collaborating with cybersecurity, operations, and infrastructure teams in multi-vendor environments.
- Understanding of compliance frameworks such as NERC-CIP, ISO 27001, or SOC 2.
Key Deliverables
- Splunk architecture design, configuration, and optimization documentation.
- Implementation of data ingestion pipelines, dashboards, and correlation searches.
- Development of custom analytics solutions supporting IT operations and cybersecurity monitoring.
- Alerting, reporting, and visualization enhancements to support business and technical teams.
- Knowledge transfer and training for internal technical staff.
- Contribution to performance tuning, platform upgrades, and operational resilience improvements.
