About the Role
A fast-growing digital entertainment company is looking for five Mid/Senior JAVA Backend Engineer to help build scalable backend systems for a next-gen online gaming platform, to work 100% remote from Canada.
You’ll lead development using JAVA, focus on building rather than maintaining. This hands-on role offers the chance to shape architecture, boost performance, and drive innovation in a high-traffic environments.
This is a 100% fully remote position to work from Canada, in a payroll system.
💰 Salary: From CAD 120k up to 180k gross/year (DOE)

Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of backend development tasks using Java ensuring efficient and secure implementations.
- Design core backend systems to transition into a scalable microservices-based architecture.
- Develop and maintain robust APIs for both internal use and public consumption.
- Conduct peer code reviews, mentor team members, and help establish engineering standards.
- Optimize systems to perform under heavy load while maintaining high reliability and security.
- Proactively contribute to the evolution of the platform’s architecture and tech stack.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in JAVA within production environments (including project leadership roles)
- 3+ years of experience with Microservices, Spring, Springboot, Hibernate and Git.
- 2+ years of experience with Cloud Services (AWS, GCP or Azure)
- 1+ years of experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis or any similar tool.
- Deep knowledge of relational databases, particularly MySQL, with an emphasis on schema design and performance tuning.
- Solid background in CI/CD pipelines, system observability, and DevOps methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead technical discussions and mentor team members.
- Experience with scalable architecture patterns and optimization techniques.
- Mobile and web experience desired.
