About Us

Mandall Immigration Law is a highly rated, Toronto-based immigration law firm dedicated to providing outstanding legal services in immigration, refugee, and humanitarian law. We are client-focused and deliver practical, compassionate, and strategic advocacy in complex matters.

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated Immigration Lawyer to join our team in a remote, full-time capacity. The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of experience with a strong emphasis on hands-on case work and written/oral advocacy. You will independently manage a litigation-leaning caseload, moving matters from strategy to filing, hearing, and final disposition.

Core Focus Areas

  • Federal Court Judicial Reviews (leave and judicial review; drafting memoranda of argument; record review; Rule-compliant filings)
  • Spousal Sponsorships (inside/outside Canada; PFL responses)
  • Humanitarian & Compassionate (H&C) Applications (evidence development; best-interests analysis; hardship frameworks)
  • Immigration Appeals at the IAD (sponsorship appeals, removal order appeals; disclosure management; witness preparation; hearing advocacy)
  • Rehabilitation & Criminal Inadmissibility (individual rehabilitation, TRP strategies; mitigation packages)
  • Citizenship Revocation / Complex Citizenship Matters (submissions, responses to notices, litigation support)
  • Express Entry & PNP Applications (strategic assessment, profile setup, documentation, and submission)
  • Procedural Fairness Letters (PFLs) (responses addressing admissibility, misrepresentation, and genuineness concerns)

What You’ll Do

  • Lead files end-to-end across the focus areas above: legal assessment, strategy, evidence plans, drafting, filing, and advocacy.
  • Prepare persuasive written advocacy, including affidavits, memoranda of argument, notices of application/appeal, IAD disclosure and books of authorities, PFL and ADR responses, and detailed submission letters.
  • Develop evidentiary records: conduct ATIPs, obtain expert reports, marshal witness evidence, and build documentary briefs tailored to statutory and jurisprudential tests.
  • Manage timelines and procedural requirements for Federal Court, IRB/IAD, and IRCC, ensuring accuracy and compliance with rules and portals.
  • Communicate with clients regularly to gather evidence, prepare for hearings/interviews, and set expectations with clarity and empathy.
  • Stay current on legislative and policy developments; conduct targeted legal research to support evolving litigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with support staff to maintain organized, high-volume files with consistent quality control.

Qualifications

  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • 2–5 years of direct immigration law experience with demonstrable case-handling responsibility.
  • Proven experience in at least two of: Federal Court JR, IAD appeals, H&C applications, spousal sponsorship litigation/ADR, rehabilitation/inadmissibility, citizenship revocation, Express Entry, or PNP submissions.
  • Strong drafting skills and comfort with procedural rules (Federal Courts Rules, IAD Rules) and electronic filing/portals (IRCC, ESDC, IRB, Federal Court e-filing).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; superior organization and file-management skills suitable for a high-volume practice with minimal supervision.
  • Assets: additional languages; prior oral advocacy at the IAD or case conferences; experience with PRRA, detention reviews, stays, or mandamus.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Salary: $70,000–$130,000, depending on experience
  • Schedule: Fully Remote, Monday–Friday
