Your role
Reporting to the Manager, Actuarial Services, this role is a key contributor in evaluating insurance liabilities, supporting risk management, and contributing to other projects related to data, reinsurance and capital. Seniority of the title will be based on the experiences and qualifications of the candidate.
What you bring to the position
· University degree in Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, or Statistics
· Minimum of 3 years of P&C insurance corporate actuarial experience
· Completion of at least 4 CAS or SOA actuarial exams, including CAS Exam 5
· Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
· Experience with Diva, Guidewire, Snowflake and SQL an asset
· Deep understanding of insurance principles and actuarial reserving/risk management techniques
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Strong organization skills
· Strong problem-solving skills
· Ability to form opinions and make recommendations to management
· Bilingual an asset (French English)
What you will do
· Prepare month-end insurance liability valuations in accordance with Canadian Accepted Actuarial Practice,
· Prepare, process and reconcile data with Financial Statements
· Update actuarial IBNR and unexpired coverage analysis
· Support completion of FS notes, regulatory returns and other industry surveys
· Support for Finance Condition Testing (FCT) and other ad hoc capital management initiatives
· Support for reinsurance requests
· Support for audits, regulatory reviews and peer reviews
· Perform tasks with a high degree of independence and autonomy
· Stay abreast of developments in actuarial and regulatory standards and requirements
· Support and mentor other actuarial team members
· Collaborate with Finance, Underwriting and Claims teams
