Effective immediately, a permanent full-time faculty position (Clinician Scientist or Clinician Investigator) is available in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Paediatrics, at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), 555 University Avenue, Toronto, ON, Canada. SickKids is an academic health science centre dedicated to the care of children and is affiliated with the University of Toronto. The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will have a strong track record in clinical research focused on childhood and rare kidney diseases, including expertise in innovative observational and clinical trial methods. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or doctoral equivalent (e.g., MD MSc, MD&MPH) in a field related to clinical research. The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead collaborative multi-centre studies, contribute to national and international research networks, and advance the evidence and research methods needed to improve outcomes for children with rare kidney diseases. Experience engaging patients and families as partners in research design, conduct, and knowledge translation, is strongly desired and aligns with SickKids’ commitment to patient-centered and impactful research. The successful candidate will have disciplinary depth and an ability to work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will show evidence of an emerging successful track record of partnership, collaboration, and engagement in research. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate and maintain a competitive and externally funded research program focused on clinical research in pediatric nephrology, and to sustain and lead an innovative, independent and inclusive program of scholarship that emphasizes national and international capacity building for multi-centre clinical trials and observational studies.
Responsibilities will include research, teaching, and supervision at the graduate level, and taking an active role in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. The new faculty member will be expected to develop and lead an outstanding, robust, active, independent, innovative, externally funded research program at the highest international level; take an active role in teaching and mentoring students; collaborate with colleagues and other university departments, partners, and the community; and be committed to equity, diversity and inclusion. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefits package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance, and a relocation package. All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD, MBBS or the equivalent degree and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
