You’ll report directly to a Senior Property Manager who values communication, accountability, and operational excellence.
Your New Role
As the Operations Supervisor, you’ll oversee the daily physical operations of a retail property, ensuring the building systems, service contracts, and onsite activities all run smoothly. Your work directly impacts tenant satisfaction, customer experience, and the long‑term performance of the asset.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring and maintaining mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and life‑safety systems
- Conducting regular property and equipment inspections, with a focus on high‑traffic retail environments
- Managing preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
- Supervising third‑party vendors, including cleaning, landscaping, snow removal, waste management, and security
- Coordinating tenant and landlord work, ensuring compliance with building codes
- Supporting repairs, obtaining quotes, and assisting with capital project planning
- Handling operational issues, responding to emergencies, and participating in on‑call coverage
- Assisting with monthly reporting, budgeting, and health and safety compliance
This role is hands‑on and ideal for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, working closely with contractors, and keeping busy retail properties running safely and efficiently.
What You Need to Succeed
You bring:
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and life‑safety
- Experience working in retail operations or similar high‑traffic commercial settings
- 5+ years of building operations experience
- 2+ years of supervisory or lead‑hand experience
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and contractors
- Solid communication skills and a customer‑focused approach when interacting with tenants
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Education in Building Operations, Facilities Management, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field (preferred)
- BES or relevant technical certifications (asset)
