Director, Professional Resources and Administration

We are seeking an accomplished legal-trained professional to serve as Director, Professional Resources & Administration for our Calgary office. This senior leadership role is responsible for the end-to-end management of legal professionals, student programs, business services, and office operations, working in close partnership with the Managing Partner and national leadership.

This position is ideally suited to a law-degree-qualified professional (JD or LLB) who has first-hand experience working within a law firm environment and understands the operational, cultural, and professional dynamics of private practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle management of legal professionals, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, leaves, secondments, and departures

• Serve as the primary point of contact for lawyers, supporting partner and associate relations, retention, coaching, and professional development

• Design and deliver office-wide and lawyer-specific initiatives, including mentorship, training, and DEI programs, in collaboration with national colleagues

• Partner with practice group leaders to monitor workload allocation and resource planning

• Oversee Calgary’s law student recruitment and student programs, including campus engagement, interviews, orientation, performance management, and student development

• Provide senior oversight of legal support, client services, technology support, and office operations to ensure exceptional service delivery

• Manage facilities, office services, vendor relationships, and workplace safety initiatives

• Collaborate with executive leadership on annual budgets and financial oversight for professional resources, HR, and facilities

• Lead, coach, and develop direct reports, fostering accountability, engagement, and high service standards

Qualifications

JD or LLB required

Meaningful experience working in a law firm environment (legal or professional services leadership)

• Strong understanding of the legal market and professional services landscape
