About Our Client
Our client is a design-build renovation and millwork firm delivering high-quality, custom residential renovations through thoughtful craftsmanship, innovative design, and a collaborative, team-based approach. Projects are executed by integrated teams that include design, architectural technology, project coordination, site supervision, and skilled trades.
Position Summary
The Senior Renovation & Custom Home Estimator plays a key role in the design-build team, leading estimating, architectural coordination, and permitting activities for custom residential renovation projects. This role combines technical expertise, estimating accuracy, and mentorship, working closely with designers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Budgeting
- Review drawings and identify subcontractor and supplier scopes
- Issue drawings for pricing and manage the quotation process
- Oversee junior staff in obtaining window and component pricing
- Prepare accurate project estimates and proposals using XactRemodel or similar software
- Coordinate millwork pricing using a standalone pricing system
- Align estimates with drawings, specifications, and project scope
- Prepare contracts, manage change orders through approval, and support final billing
Permitting & Compliance
- Prepare and submit permit applications and manage approvals
- Coordinate with engineers, consultants, and municipal departments
- Close permits following final inspections
- Maintain knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and Ontario Health & Safety regulations
Team Collaboration & Leadership
- Participate in internal project reviews
- Collaborate with designers, cabinetmakers, sales, and site teams
- Mentor junior technologists and support team development
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Communicate with clients regarding scope changes and change orders
- Maintain professional communication with all stakeholders
- Ensure client property is respected throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a construction trade, architectural technology, or related field
- 5–10 years of experience in residential renovation, custom home construction, and estimating
- Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and Ontario Health & Safety regulations
- Proficiency with estimating software (XactRemodel or similar)
- Strong computer skills including MS Office (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, Smartsheet)
- Valid Ontario driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and insurance
