Position- Commercial Underwriter
The Role
As a Commercial Underwriter, you will manage commercial submissions from initial intake through to binding. You’ll collaborate closely with brokers, underwriting leadership, and internal support teams to turn opportunities into written business while maintaining strong underwriting discipline.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as a primary broker contact on assigned commercial submissions
• Review, assess, and quote commercial risks within established underwriting guidelines
• Drive files from quote to bind through proactive follow-up and subjectivity management
• Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and professionally to brokers
• Maintain accurate documentation and file hygiene
• Collaborate with senior underwriters and support staff to ensure timely turnaround
What We’re Looking For
• 3–6 years of commercial underwriting experience
• MGA experience preferred; carrier or brokerage backgrounds considered
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, broker-facing environment
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to make practical underwriting decisions and keep business moving
• CIP designation completed or in progress (preferred)
