Senior Environmental Scientist – Remediation

About the Opportunity

A well-established environmental and engineering consulting organization is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist to provide technical leadership in environmental site assessment and remediation. This role is ideal for an experienced environmental professional who brings strong regulatory knowledge, technical rigor, and a commitment to environmental stewardship.

The successful candidate will act as a senior technical advisor, supporting a diverse portfolio of industrial, oil and gas, and facility-related projects across British Columbia. This position offers a flexible work environment with a mix of office, field, and remote work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee, review, and provide professional sign-off for Stage I and Stage II Environmental Site Investigations, detailed site investigations, and remediation programs.
  • Lead and manage small- to large-scale remediation projects for industrial and energy sector clients.
  • Analyze and interpret environmental data, ensuring accuracy, defensibility, and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare, review, and approve high-quality technical reports and deliverables.
  • Develop practical and innovative solutions to address complex environmental challenges.
  • Provide strategic guidance toward long-term regulatory closure, including Certificates of Restoration with applicable regulators.
  • Maintain current knowledge of provincial regulations, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
  • Support client relationship development and contribute to project strategy and execution.
  • Identify and proactively manage project, regulatory, and environmental risks.
  • Champion a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, biological sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, with a recognized British Columbia professional association.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental site assessments, soil and groundwater investigations, and remediation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within collaborative teams.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to conduct field work as required.
