You will be accountable for the planning, leadership, and execution of all catering operations, both on-site and off-site. This role carries meaningful operational decision-making authority and plays a key role in shaping catering operations through strong leadership, financial stewardship, and cross-functional collaboration. The salary range is $85,000-90,000
Description
Catering Operations & Event Execution
- Lead all internal and external catering operations, ensuring events meet defined service, quality, safety, and brand standards.
- Maintain a hands-on presence in day-to-day operations to support teams and ensure consistent execution.
- Ensure catering functions are accurately scheduled, set up, serviced, and dismantled in line with event plans and guest expectations.
- Partner with sales and event coordination teams to confirm menus, staffing, timelines, and service requirements.
- Review catering documentation to support accurate and timely invoicing.
- Collaborate with culinary and sales leadership to develop menus and service concepts across a wide range of events.
- Lead premium experiences including VIP suites, private functions, and backstage hospitality for performers and special guests.
- Design and deliver specialty catering experiences tied to unique sporting and live events, balancing creativity with operational and safety standards.
Financial Leadership & Business Planning
- Develop, manage, and monitor the annual catering operating budget.
- Track financial performance, identify variances, and implement corrective actions to achieve targets.
- Manage inventory, cost controls, and waste reduction initiatives to support profitability.
- Oversee alcohol programs, including liquor, wine, and beer menus and inventory.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to strengthen overall Food & Beverage financial performance.
People Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of catering team members and leaders.
- Coach and support Team Leads to build accountability, confidence, and operational excellence.
- Develop schedules and oversee payroll in collaboration with HR partners to ensure labour efficiency and compliance.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, engagement, and continuous learning that supports retention and performance.
- Partner with HR on performance management, recognition, and professional development initiatives.
Guest Experience, Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Champion service standards that drive guest satisfaction, loyalty, and repeat business.
- Monitor guest feedback and service metrics, translating insights into operational improvements.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, liquor legislation, and workplace safety standards.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
- Identify and implement improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, and consistency through data and cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Hospitality, Food & Beverage, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in catering or banqueting within hotels, convention centres, exhibition facilities, or large-scale venues, including VIP or entertainment environments.
- 3+ years of proven people leadership experience.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, inventory, and cost controls.
- Deep working knowledge of food, wine, liquor, and beer service.
- Experience with food and beverage POS systems and strong Microsoft Office proficiency.
- ProServe certification and a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
