SUMMARY OF THE POSITION Person who drives an automobile and has the legally required license to do so. SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS • Use of an adapted bus during all shifts; • Transport passengers (including stretcher, handicapped passengers) inside and outside of the facility to designated areas in a punctual and timely manner; • Guide passengers to the appropriate seat and monitor their behavior; • Operate adaptive vehicle and equipment such as the hydraulic lift; • Complete the mechanical inspection sheet, report any inconsistencies or repairs; • Ensure safety by applying security and driving rules; • Responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle and ensure comfort of the passengers; • Plan routes in advance to minimize the number of stops and maximize fuel efficiency; • Ensure that passengers arrive at their destinations on time and help them settle into their facilities; • Supervise the loading and unloading of passengers (including handicapped passengers) into adaptive vehicle; • Other tasks as requested by supervisor. REQUIREMENTS Education: • No specific diploma; • Valid driver’s permit class 4A/4B meeting the standards of the Société dassurance automobile du Québec and the Ministère des Transports du Québec. Experience: • Excellent driving record: Driving Record Request (SAAQ clic online Services – Citizens). Knowledge and Abilities: • Ability to operate the vehicle; • Ability to work in a hospital setting; • Excellent knowledge of passenger transportation, safety and defensive driving; • Knowledge of appropriate community or city routes and locations; • Excellent knowledge of Cree culture and language for drivers in communities; • Excellent interpersonal and listening communication, and teamwork skills; • Warehouse experience, heavy lifting; • Autonomous, flexible and discrete; • Observation skills; • Customer service clientele skills; • Empathy, courtesy, patience and resourcefulness; • Must be able to speak in a clear voice that all passengers can hear and understand instructions. Language: • Fluent in Cree and English; • Fluency in French is an asset. Other: • Occasional after hours’ availability; • This position includes on-call periods.
