Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Strategy and Partnerships, PRiME, the Marketing & Events Officer will support the development and execution of PRiME’s marketing, communications, and event strategies. You will create high-quality, impactful content, monitor and maintain PRiME’s digital presence, coordinate a wide range of events to engage stakeholders, promote PRiME’s programs, and amplify the work of our innovators.

This role combines strategic communications with hands-on event management and will require close collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and senior leadership. The successful candidate will take initiative, coordinate day-to-day activities, and contribute to PRiME’s overarching goals of advancing research, innovation, and global partnerships.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement marketing and communications strategies to promote PRiME programs and initiatives.
  • Create content for promotional materials, digital platforms, social media, and news features.
  • Coordinate, promote, and execute a variety of events including symposiums, workshops, networking events, and seminars.
  • Manage event logistics: booking venues, arranging audio-visual and travel requirements, preparing itineraries, and coordinating schedules.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders for story development, cross-promotion, and event collaboration.
  • Maintain program and event calendars, senior leadership schedules, and track action items related to communications and events.
  • Prepare and process minor purchases, invoices, and expense reimbursements.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of marketing and event activities, ensuring continuous improvement.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or related discipline or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum four years’ recent and relevant experience in communications, design and production of publications and newsletters, promotional material, and website design and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and editing articles, designing layout, producing and distributing in hardcopy and electronic format (including websites).
  • Demonstrated experience with, and knowledge of, web best practices, writing for web, organizing website content.
  • Experience in developing marketing and promotional material for events, trainee programs, alumni and employer outreach initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience with conceptualizing, managing and executing all aspects of large-scale in-person, virtual, and hybrid events.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (i.e. WordPress, Drupal, HootSuite, etc.).
  • Professional experience overseeing and administering a variety of media and social media platforms (e.g. LinkedIn, YouTube, X, Facebook, Instagram).
  • Demonstrated advanced skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, Power-Point) and databases.
  • Design creativity. Skilled in the use of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver) and/or Canva.

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience with livestreaming and virtual event technologies (such as Zoom, or similar) and marketing systems (MailChimp, Constant Contact, or other) are an asset.

Notes:

  • This is a new and term position for one (1) year with a possibility of renewal.
  • Hours of work: Monday through Friday from 8:45 AM to 5:00 PM, with overtime on weekdays for events as required.
