Senior Markets Data Controls Lead – Capital Markets & Data Governance

We are seeking a highly experienced Markets Data Controls Lead to support our banking client’s large-scale Data Governance and Data Control transformation initiatives within a global Capital Markets environment. This role is ideal for a senior professional with strong expertise in Markets data, Data Quality, Governance frameworks, Risk & Controls, and regulatory-driven data initiatives.
The successful candidate will partner closely with Business, Technology, Data Governance, Risk, Finance, and Compliance teams to implement sustainable data controls and improve overall data quality across critical Markets data domains.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead end-to-end implementation of Data Controls for Critical Data Elements (CDEs)
- Conduct control assessments and identify gaps across Markets data flows and governance processes
- Partner with Technology teams on control design, testing, implementation, and remediation activities
- Drive Data Quality initiatives across key dimensions including completeness, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness
- Work with stakeholders across Markets, Risk, Finance, and Compliance to resolve data exceptions and governance issues
- Support implementation of scalable governance frameworks and sustainable control processes
- Collaborate with Data Stewards, Control Owners, and SMEs to operationalize data governance standards
- Provide recommendations for improving Data Quality controls, governance practices, and remediation processes
Required Experience & Skills
- 8–10+ years of experience in:
- Data Governance
- Data Management
- Risk & Controls
- Data Quality
- Regulatory Data initiatives
- Capital Markets or Financial Services environments
- Strong understanding of:
- Trade lifecycle data
- Pre-trade, trade, and position data
- Market data
- Reference data (Security Master, Account Master, etc.)
- Data lineage and golden source concepts
- Strong knowledge of Compliance and Controls domains including:
- AML
- Trade Surveillance
- Sanctions
- 1LOD / 2LOD controls
- Advanced SQL skills with hands-on experience performing:
- Data analysis
- Data validation
- Data quality assessments
- Exception analysis
- Experience with:
- Data Governance frameworks
- Critical Data Elements (CDEs)
- Data Quality controls
- Metadata management
- Data cataloging / lineage tools such as Collibra
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Background
- Experience within Tier 1 Banks or large Financial Institutions
- Exposure to Enterprise Data Office or Regulatory remediation programs
- Experience in Markets Risk & Controls or Data Governance consulting engagements
- Prior experience supporting Finance, Risk, Compliance, or Markets transformation initiatives
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Master’s degree is considered an asset
