General Scope
We are looking for a new team member that shares our values and is ready to take on exciting challenges as the company evolves. The Human Resource & Payroll Coordinator will support HR and payroll functions across multiple entities, covering both corporate (BC) and site (Yukon) operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Human Resources
- Coordinate recruitment process including job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination
- Prepare and process employee-related documentation accurately (employment agreements, terminations, leaves, etc.)
- Administer employee onboarding, offboarding, and employment changes
- Coordinate employee benefits programs e.g. extended health, HSA
- Develop and update job descriptions, HR manuals, and policies
- Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with applicable legislation (BC and Yukon)
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and systems
Payroll
- Process full-cycle payroll for salaried and hourly rotational site employees, including overtime and shift-based schedules.
- Maintain payroll data in systems such as ADP.
- Ensure compliance with CRA requirements including source deductions and preparation of T4 statements etc.
- Coordinate and prepare payroll-related filings including BC Employer Health Tax (EHT) and Workers’ compensation (WorkSafeBC and WorkSafe Yukon).
- Reconcile payroll accounts and support audit requests.
Qualifications & Experience
- 4+ years of HR and payroll experience in Canada; experience with Yukon payroll is required
- Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration is preferred
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required; CPHR BC & Yukon considered an asset
- Strong understanding of Employment Standards and payroll legislation in BC and Yukon
- Familiarity with ADP or similar payroll systems
- Previous experience in a mining or industrial environment is an asset
- Familiarity with averaging agreements in Yukon is an asset
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
