Description

KisoJi Biotechnology is a therapeutic antibody company that is developing mono- and multispecific antibody therapeutics by leveraging our state-of-the-art proprietary transgenic mouse (KisoMouse) platform for the generation of heavy chain-only antibodies (HCAbs). We are currently expanding our molecular biology team, and are specifically looking for a Research Associate to expand our in-house Nanopore sequencing capabilities. This is an individual contributor position; the work requires on-site laboratory bench work at our upcoming Toronto site expansion.

The successful candidate will have the ability to complete project milestones within strict deadlines, to provide technical expertise within their areas of strength, to work independently, and to collaborate effectively within our multi-disciplinary team. We are looking for people who are internally motivated, scientifically rigorous, and who hold high standards of laboratory maintenance. Candidates must be able to work legally in Canada.

Position: Research Associate

Site: Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Department: Molecular Biology

Responsibilities

The Research Associate, Molecular Biology position entails working independently and in collaboration with other team members, under the direction of the department head, to:

·        Establish, troubleshoot, and execute experimental pipelines for Nanopore sample preparation, quality-control and sequencing

·        Generate amplicon libraries for other NGS analyses

·        Design, create and clone antibody/recombinant protein DNA constructs, and purify DNA (mini/midi/maxipreps) for subsequent transfection and testing

·        Analyze data and clearly communicate results in written reports and oral presentations

·        Support the creation of SOPs as required

·        Actively foster an environment of effective and collaborative working relationships within and across teams, and provide technical expertise in molecular biology methods

·        Participate in team meetings to assist in the coordination of project and departmental activities

Essential qualifications

·        M.Sc. in a relevant field (such as genetics, cell biology, or molecular biology) with at least 1-3 years of experience in a results-oriented environment (such as industry or a core facility)

·        Significant experience with Nanopore MinION sequencing, from sample preparation and quality-control to downstream results analysis

·        Experience with molecular biology techniques such as cloning and DNA extraction (mini/midi/maxiprep)

·        Independent technical troubleshooting skills

·        Ability to accurately follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instructions, and to perform repetitive tasks

·        Strong time management skills, including the ability to effectively multi-task and work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment

·        Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document all work clearly and completely; proficient with Microsoft Office suite

·        An enthusiasm for technology implementation and rather than independent hypothesis-driven research

Assets

·        Experience with other next-generation sequencing technologies (such as PacBio, Illumina) and library preparation is a plus

·        Experience with the design and troubleshooting of cloning projects is a definite plus

·        Experience in antibody discovery (e.g. phage display or mammalian display screening) is a plus
