WHO WE ARE
Advanced Pump Repair (APR) is a trusted pump repair and field service company serving municipal, industrial, and commercial customers across Ontario. We specialize in the disassembly, evaluation, repair, and rebuilding of pumps and rotating equipment.
Now part of the Summit Water group of companies, APR combines decades of hands-on mechanical expertise with the strength and stability of a growing organization. We are focused on quality workmanship, strong customer relationships, and building a team that takes pride in solving real mechanical problems.
ABOUT THE POSITION
- We are looking for a technically strong and commercially driven Senior Project Manager who enjoys Estimating & Sales to join our team.
- This role owns the full lifecycle of our pump repair opportunities — from interpreting inspection reports, to building costed solutions, to presenting and winning the work with the customer.
- You will take detailed pump inspection findings and turn them into clear, value-driven repair proposals. Just as importantly, you will engage directly with customers to explain scope, build confidence, and close the work.
- This is a hands-on, revenue-generating role that blends mechanical expertise with sales execution.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
- Review inspection reports, measurements, and photos from the Pump Inspector
- Interpret failure modes and define appropriate repair or replacement scope
- Develop detailed, costed proposals including labour, materials, machining, coatings, subcontractors, and field service
- Apply labour hours, shop rates, and pricing strategies to protect margin while remaining competitive
- Clearly communicate scope, risks, exclusions, and timelines to customers
- Present quotes to customers and actively work to win the business
- Follow up on opportunities, handle objections, and close repair work
- Build relationships with customers to drive repeat and long-term business
- Attend site visits to assess scope and support sales discussions
- Track quote activity, win rates, and lost work to continuously improve performance
- Your success in this role is measured by revenue won, margin achieved, and customer satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Strong mechanical background in pumps, rotating equipment, or industrial repair
- Experience developing repair scopes or estimating mechanical work
- Ability to interpret inspection findings and translate them into practical solutions
- Commercial mindset with understanding of pricing, margins, and risk
- Confidence communicating directly with customers and leading technical discussions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
- Experience in pump repair or rotating equipment service environments
- Familiarity with common pump types (centrifugal, split case, vertical turbine, submersible)
- Experience in technical sales, inside/outside sales, or customer-facing roles
- Experience working with municipal or industrial customers
- Understanding of competitive bidding environments
- Experience using Sage or similar systems
WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
This is not a back-office estimating role.
You are responsible not just for building the quote — but for winning the work. You will play a direct role in driving revenue, improving margins, and strengthening customer relationships.
