As our operations continue to expand, including future multi-engine and rotary-wing operations, we are seeking an experienced and operationally focused Director of Maintenance / PRM to lead our maintenance department into its next phase of growth and modernization.

The Opportunity

This is a leadership role for an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer who thrives in a dynamic operational environment and enjoys building systems, structure, team culture, and operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will serve as:

Director of Maintenance (DOM)

Person Responsible for Maintenance (PRM)

Person Responsible for Maintenance Control (PRMC) for the FTU

The role combines:

Maintenance leadership,

Operational planning,

Regulatory oversight,

Project management and hands-on technical involvement when required.

This is not solely an administrative position. The successful candidate will be actively engaged in:

Maintenance planning,

Aircraft serviceability,

Project coordination,

Troubleshooting,

Team leadership and operational decision making.

The DOM will work closely with:

Accountable Executive,

Flight Operations Manager,

Chief Flight Instructor,

AMEs,

Apprentices and operational staff to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance Leadership & Department Oversight

Lead and organize the maintenance department to ensure efficient workflows, clear communication, and operational accountability

Coordinate daily, weekly, and long-term maintenance priorities

Supervise and mentor AMEs, apprentices, and support personnel

Promote a professional, respectful, safety-focused maintenance culture

Support employee development, performance management, and operational consistency

Maintain strong coordination between maintenance and flight operations

Maintenance Planning & Operational Control

Act as PRM in accordance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations

Oversee maintenance scheduling and fleet availability

Ensure aircraft maintenance activities support:

Flight training operations,

Internal fleet requirements and third-party customer maintenance

Monitor aircraft status, defects, inspections, and maintenance planning

Support maintenance control systems and operational continuity

Ensure compliance with:

CARs,

AMO procedures,

Maintenance Policy Manual,

Maintenance Control Manual,

Quality Assurance,

SMS and OHS programs

Fleet Restoration & Project Management

Lead fleet restoration and improvement projects

Coordinate:

Labour allocation,

Parts sourcing,

Vendor coordination and project timelines

Manage aircraft return-to-service priorities efficiently and safely

Assist with long-term fleet modernization and expansion planning

Procurement & Vendor Coordination

Manage aircraft parts procurement and inventory oversight

Coordinate with suppliers and service providers

Review and oversee maintenance purchasing and vendor support

Assist with cost control and operational planning

Systems, Reporting & Administration

Utilize Quantum MX and Google Workspace systems

Maintain accurate maintenance tracking and reporting

Review:

Work orders,

Maintenance releases,

Defect tracking and labour allocation

Coordinate maintenance status reporting with flight operations management

Operational Environment

The DOM will oversee both company and customer aircraft operations, including:

Single-engine and future multi-engine aircraft

Future rotary-wing expansion

Field maintenance support

Advanced troubleshooting and defect rectification

Fleet restoration projects

FTU and third-party aircraft maintenance

Operations are primarily based at:

Wetaskiwin Regional Airport (CEX3)

Additional support to other operational locations may occasionally be required.

Required QualificationsLicensing & Technical Experience

Valid Transport Canada AME Licence

M1 Licence required

Minimum 6 years aircraft maintenance experience

Qualified to act as PRM in accordance with CARs

Strong working knowledge of:

Canadian Aviation Regulations,

AMO operations,

Technical records,

Maintenance planning and regulatory compliance systems

Leadership & Operational Skills

Previous leadership or supervisory experience

Strong organizational and operational planning skills

Ability to manage workflows, timelines, and team coordination

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to maintain a professional and respectful work environment

Ability to remain technically engaged and hands-on when operationally required

Administrative & Systems Experience

Experience with maintenance tracking software (Quantum MX or equivalent preferred)

Experience with:

Maintenance scheduling,

Defect tracking,

Labour allocation and maintenance reporting

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace

Preferred Assets

M2 Licence

10+ years aircraft maintenance experience

Previous experience as:

PRM,

ACA holder,

DOM,

Maintenance manager

Flight Training Unit maintenance experience

Structures and/or avionics experience

SMS and Quality Assurance leadership experience

Experience with piston and turbine aircraft

Rotary-wing maintenance experience
