Description

This is an opportunity for a Practice Director to build and scale a new Data Platform practice at a specialist technology consultancy, focused on modern, high-performance technologies such as Redis, Databricks, and ClickHouse.

This is a builder role suited to a commercially minded leader who combines deep technical credibility with services sales and delivery expertise. The successful candidate will define the go-to-market strategy, develop partnerships, win and deliver client engagements, and grow a high-performing consulting team.

Key Responsibilities

Practice Build & Strategy

  • Define the vision, positioning, and GTM strategy for the new Data Platform practice
  • Identify target industries, use cases (real-time analytics, streaming, AI pipelines, etc.) and priority offerings
  • Build relationships with technology vendors and ecosystem partners

Sales & Business Development

  • Own revenue targets and pipeline development for the practice
  • Lead solutioning and deal shaping for enterprise opportunities
  • Partner with existing leadership and practices to cross-sell into current client accounts
  • Act as executive sponsor on key accounts

Delivery Leadership

  • Oversee successful delivery of client engagements (architecture, implementation, optimisation)
  • Establish delivery methodologies, accelerators, and best practices
  • Ensure high client satisfaction and repeat business

Thought Leadership

  • Represent the business in the market through events, webinars, and published content
  • Build credibility with clients as a trusted advisor on modern data architectures
  • Stay ahead of trends in real-time data, lakehouse, and analytics ecosystems

Qualifications

Ideal Experience (We are not looking for a 100% hit here!)

  • 10+ years in consulting, data engineering, or enterprise software services
  • Proven experience building or scaling a practice or business unit
  • Strong background in services sales, pre-sales, or delivery leadership
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following:
  • Redis (caching, real-time applications, microservices)
  • Databricks (lakehouse, Spark, AI/ML pipelines)
  • ClickHouse (real-time analytics, OLAP)

Skills

  • Strong commercial acumen (pipeline building, closing deals, account growth)
  • Deep understanding of modern data architectures (streaming, real-time, cloud-native)
  • Ability to translate technical solutions into tangible business value
  • Leadership and team-building capability within a consulting environment

Nice to Have

  • Existing relationships with vendors or enterprise clients in the data ecosystem
  • Experience partnering with hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Background in performance analytics, adtech, fintech, or data-intensive industries
