Junior Construction Estimator – ICI

ONIT Construction is growing its estimating team. We are looking for a detail-oriented Junior Construction Estimator with ICI experience to support competitive tender submissions and project pricing.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Senior Estimator to prepare accurate, complete, and competitive bids for institutional, commercial, and industrial construction projects throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

Role Overview 

As a Junior Construction Estimator, you will support the estimating department in preparing project cost estimates, tender submissions, and pricing analysis. You will collaborate with the Senior Estimator, project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure all estimates align with the project scope, tender requirements, and company standards.

Our head office is located in Burlington, with projects throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist with detailed cost estimates for ICI construction projects
  • Identify and track new tender opportunities through industry tender platforms
  • Prepare prequalification packages for Senior Estimator review and approval
  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine project scope
  • Complete quantity take-offs and material/labour pricing analysis
  • Request, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Assemble tender submissions and complete bid packages with the Senior Estimator
  • Support project handover by providing estimating information to project management teams
  • Maintain organized bid files, pricing records, and estimating documentation
  • Contribute to improvements in estimating tools, templates, and procedures
  • Maintain a proactive, safety-first approach consistent with COR standards

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of construction estimating experience; ICI experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately review tender packages, identify the full scope of work, and do so efficiently within tight bid deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing
  • Experience using online tender platforms such as Bids & Tenders
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam/PlanSwift
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple deadlines

Preferred Assets

  • Experience working within a COR-certified environment or COR management system
  • Knowledge of Ontario construction standards and tendering processes
  • Experience supporting project managers during pre-construction and project handover
