Location: Downtown Vancouver, BC

Position Type: Full-Time | Hybrid

We are hiring a Senior Associate – Family Law on behalf of our client, a distinguished and highly regarded full-service law firm located in Downtown Vancouver.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Family Lawyer to join a thriving and well-established Family Law Group. The successful candidate will manage sophisticated Family Law matters while continuing to develop and expand their own practice within a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and client-focused environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a broad range of sophisticated Family Law matters from initial consultation through trial and resolution.
  • Represent clients in all aspects of Family Law, including divorce, parenting arrangements, guardianship, child and spousal support, property division, relocation matters, protection orders, and enforcement proceedings.
  • Conduct mediations, settlement conferences, arbitrations, judicial case conferences, examinations, and court appearances.
  • Appear before the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Provincial Court of British Columbia.
  • Prepare and review pleadings, financial disclosure, affidavits, applications, legal opinions, settlement proposals, separation agreements, parenting plans, and other Family Law documentation.
  • Develop litigation strategies, negotiate settlements, and advocate effectively on behalf of clients.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, referral sources, and other professionals within the legal community.
  • Mentor and collaborate with junior lawyers, legal administrative assistants, and paralegals within the Family Law Group.
  • Participate in business development initiatives and contribute to the continued growth and success of the firm’s Family Law practice.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and client service.

Qualifications

  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
  • Minimum 5 years of post-call experience practicing Family Law in British Columbia.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex Family Law files independently from inception through resolution.
  • Strong advocacy, negotiation, mediation, and courtroom experience.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and legal research skills.
  • Exceptional client relationship management and communication abilities.
  • An established client base and portable book of business would be considered a significant asset but is not required.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a genuine interest in contributing to the long-term growth of the Family Law Group.
