Role Description

Manitoba is seeking an AI Solution Architect to partner with business areas to identify, design, and deliver impactful artificial intelligence, automation, and agent-based solutions. The successful candidate will work directly with business users to understand operational needs, document requirements in plain language, and determine where AI can realistically improve service delivery, reduce manual effort, or support better decision-making.

This role spans the entire project lifecycle—from initial discovery and prototyping to testing, deployment, and final hand-off. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience translating business problems into functional AI-enabled solutions, primarily utilizing Microsoft Copilot Studio, intelligent agents, and related Microsoft 365 and Azure capabilities.

As a key collaborator, you will work closely with Manitoba’s security, privacy, architecture, and technology teams to ensure all solutions are highly secure, compliant with government standards, and built with robust access controls, auditability, and data-handling practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Discovery & Design: Engage directly with business stakeholders to run workshops, gather requirements, and assess the feasibility of AI applications.
  • Solution Development: Design, build, and prototype practical, secure AI solutions and agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio and the Azure/M365 ecosystem.
  • Integration: Connect AI solutions securely with Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Azure services, APIs, and enterprise data sources.
  • Security & Compliance: Collaborate with privacy, security, and architecture teams to identify risks, support security reviews, and align solutions with government standards.
  • Testing & Deployment: Lead user testing sessions, gather feedback, iterate on prototypes, and support deployment into production environments.
  • Documentation & Training: Produce clean technical documentation (solution designs, security schemas, testing logs) and conduct seamless knowledge transfers to Manitoba staff.

Qualifications & Skills

Mandatory Requirements (Must-Have)

  • Business Analysis & Discovery: Proven experience working directly with business users to gather, clarify, document, and validate requirements for technology or AI-enabled solutions.
  • AI Solution Delivery: Hands-on experience designing, building, testing, and implementing AI-enabled solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio, agents, or comparable low-code/no-code AI platforms.
  • Stakeholder Facilitation: Experience facilitating workshops, discovery sessions, live demonstrations, user testing, and adoption activities with both business and technical teams.
  • System Integration: Experience integrating AI solutions with Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Azure services, APIs, and enterprise data sources.
  • Technical Documentation: Experience producing clear solution documentation, including design decisions, requirements, testing results, deployment notes, and user guidance.
  • Professional Independence: Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and drive solutions from concept to implementation in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Background Check: A clean criminal record check (obtained at the candidate’s expense) is required prior to starting. An enhanced security background check completed by Manitoba may also be required.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

  • Experience with Microsoft Foundry, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, or related Microsoft enterprise AI services.
  • Experience with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or other agentic development tools used to accelerate prototyping, development, and testing.
  • Experience designing, implementing, or integrating Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers or similar patterns to securely connect AI agents to external tools and data sources.
  • Experience with the wider Power Platform suite (Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse, custom connectors, and environment governance).
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications in Azure, AI, Power Platform, security, or overall Solution Architecture.
