Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain scalable services using TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and senior engineers to deliver features that improve identity and access for GenAI applications.
  • Write clean, testable, and maintainable code; participate in code reviews and system‑design discussions.
  • Contribute to observability, alerting, and reliability of services.
  • Continuously learn and grow by working alongside experienced engineers on complex distributed systems.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Solid programming experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js runtime environments.
  • Practical experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Ability to write well‑tested, high‑quality code.
  • Experience in an iterative development environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a sense of ownership; ability to work autonomously while seeking help when needed.
  • Systematic problem‑solving approach.
  • Understanding of architecture principles across infrastructure platforms, security, data, integration, and application layers.
  • Experience building resilient, scalable products.
  • Bonus: knowledge of IAM concepts; experience with AI agents; knowledge of public and secure APIs; curiosity about AI and its intersection with identity and security; familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry.

Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position in Canada is between $136,000 and $187,000 CAD. Okta offers equity, bonuses, and benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance; a registered retirement savings plan with match; healthcare spending account; telemedicine; and paid leave, including PTO and parental leave.
