Join the Government of Yukon as a Legal Counsel dedicated to supporting the judiciary in Whitehorse. In this full-time role, you’ll provide vital legal services relevant to court administration.<br/><br/>This permanent position involves performing solicitor duties for the Yukon Courts and judiciary. Supporting the Chief Justice and Chief Judge, you will handle complex and diverse legal issues while supervising a team of Senior Judicial Assistants and students. Your expertise in litigation and law practice will be essential in navigating groundbreaking legal principles.<br/><br/>Key Responsibilities:
• Offer legal advice to Yukon Courts and judiciary
• Engage in procedural and substantive legal matters
• Supervise and guide judicial assistants and students
• Collaborate with the Chief Justice and Chief Judge
• Conduct independent legal research and analysis<br/><br/>Requirements:
• Experience in litigation or solicitor law
• Good standing with Law Society of Yukon
• Bilingual in English and French is a plus
• Understanding of Yukon First Nations history
