About the Role
The Company is in search of a Head of Lighting for its North American Tour. The successful candidate will be tasked with leading the Lighting Department to ensure the creative integrity, precision, and safety of all lighting operations throughout the tour. This includes overseeing all lighting equipment, systems, and personnel to deliver the visual impact envisioned by the Lighting Designer and Director. The role also involves close collaboration with the Head of Video and other department heads to maintain seamless integration of lighting and video elements in every performance. Key responsibilities for the Head of Lighting include leading the department to achieve the desired creative effect, developing a thorough understanding of all lighting systems and equipment, and recreating and maintaining the lighting design at each venue. The position requires strong leadership, team management, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure and demonstrate technical expertise.
Applicants for the Head of Lighting position at the company should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in lighting design, technical theatre, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in lighting for live entertainment or touring productions. Expertise in GrandMA2 lighting systems is required, and experience in a touring environment is essential. The role demands a proactive individual who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and has a strong understanding of rigging, power distribution, DMX networking, and show file management. The Head of Lighting will also be responsible for supervising and training technical staff, as well as ensuring compliance with safety standards and promoting a proactive safety culture. The ability to travel domestically for extended periods and maintain eligibility for U.S. employment and travel is a must.
