Our client is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician / Heavy Duty Mechanic to join their growing team. This individual will play a key role in maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing a fleet of heavy equipment to ensure maximum uptime and reliability. The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, and able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, tight-knit team environment.

This position is an existing vacancy and is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work, solving mechanical problems, and working on a variety of heavy equipment. While the preference is for a candidate interested in a mobile mechanic/field service role, experienced shop mechanics will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and scheduled servicing.
  • Identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine issues.
  • Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and service calls in both shop and field environments.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and service records.
  • Work independently to diagnose issues and complete repairs from start to finish.
  • Collaborate with fellow mechanics and operations personnel to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Heavy Equipment Technician (Heavy Duty Mechanic) Certification.
  • NDT Certification.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving abstract.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attendance, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

Plusses:

  • Experience working on John Deere and/or Caterpillar equipment.
  • 1-5+ years of heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience.
  • Previous experience as a mobile mechanic or field service technician.
  • Experience diagnosing hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with construction, earthmoving, or heavy industrial equipment.
