Description

We are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to own the reliability, availability, security, and performance of a high-traffic, customer-facing banking website operating on a vendor-managed Adobe platform.

The successful candidate will work closely with Adobe, Information Security, Network and CDN teams, Privacy, Production Support, and full-stack development teams to establish and operate a comprehensive reliability engineering practice.

This is a build-and-run role, with significant responsibility for implementing monitoring, automation, operational controls, disaster recovery, and performance management practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Application Reliability & Incident Management

  • Own end-to-end monitoring of CDN, edge configuration, DNS, TLS certificates, caching, cache invalidation, and third-party integrations.
  • Build and maintain external synthetic monitoring across website templates and supported languages.
  • Develop automated smoke tests for dependent interfaces and integrations.
  • Lead incident response for customer-facing issues and participate in the shared on-call rotation.
  • Manage vendor escalations, including Adobe incident coordination, severity mapping, evidence collection, and SLA follow-ups.
  • Troubleshoot content publishing issues, cache invalidation failures, and content-source outages.
  • Develop incident playbooks, operational runbooks, and procedures that enable service desk teams to diagnose common issues.

2. Change & Release Management

  • Establish a release management process that aligns Git-based deployments and continuous content publishing with enterprise change-control requirements.
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines with branch protection, mandatory checks, linting, performance testing, and secret-scanning controls.
  • Implement and rehearse rollback procedures, including code reverts, content republishing, and CDN cache purging.
  • Ensure production content changes have appropriate approval records, attribution, and audit trails.
  • Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) activities and manage release notes and production freeze calendars.

3. Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery

  • Develop and execute disaster recovery plans for content sources, Git repositories, and CDN/edge configurations.
  • Manage CDN and edge configuration as code to support consistent deployment and recovery.
  • Define and validate Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) with business stakeholders.
  • Conduct resilience testing for certificate expiry, cache invalidation failures, WAF misconfiguration, content-source outages, and repository compromise.
  • Maintain operational resilience documentation, recovery evidence, and platform exit and portability plans.

4. Reliability & Web Performance Engineering

  • Define and manage Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for website availability and page performance.
  • Establish Core Web Vitals thresholds, performance dashboards, alerting, and error-budget reporting.
  • Implement Real User Monitoring (RUM), external synthetic monitoring, and CDN access-log ingestion into enterprise SIEM platforms.
  • Govern third-party scripts and tags, measure their performance impact, and establish approval processes and performance budgets.
  • Monitor CDN egress, asset storage, media delivery, and associated service consumption and costs.
  • Deliver reliability and performance reports to technology, business, and risk stakeholders.

5. Security, Compliance & Operational Controls

  • Establish monitoring and evidence collection for controls on vendor-managed platforms.
  • Manage log ingestion, retention requirements, access reviews, and audit evidence across repositories, Adobe administration tools, content sources, and CDN platforms.
  • Collaborate with Information Security, Privacy, Operational Risk, and Third-Party Risk teams.
  • Support regulatory and internal compliance requirements related to technology risk, cybersecurity, and operational resilience.
  • Maintain accurate configuration management records, support models, and operational ownership documentation.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

  • Substantial hands-on experience operating high-traffic public websites behind enterprise CDNs.
  • Strong expertise in CDN configuration, including origin configuration, caching, cache invalidation, edge logic, TLS, and DNS.
  • Practical experience with Web Application Firewalls (WAF), including false-positive tuning and production policy validation.
  • Experience with bot management, including protecting applications while allowing legitimate search-engine crawlers.
  • Strong understanding of SRE principles, including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, incident management, and service reliability reporting.
  • Experience implementing observability using logs, real-user telemetry, and synthetic monitoring.
  • Strong Git-based release engineering and CI/CD experience, including infrastructure and configuration as code.
  • Proven experience in production incident response, root cause analysis, rollback planning, and recovery procedures.
  • Experience working within regulated environments with change management, audit evidence, access controls, and third-party risk requirements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, including coordination with external technology vendors.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Hands-on experience with Akamai or Cloudflare.
  • Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), particularly Edge Delivery Services and Assets as a Cloud Service.
  • Experience supporting financial services, banking, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience operating vendor-managed or SaaS-based platforms.
  • Experience supporting bilingual English and French websites.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility and SEO considerations related to website reliability and performance.
