This role involves the delivery of comprehensive flight instruction, mission planning, and debriefing ensuring pilots are equipped with the skills necessary to execute complex aerial maneuvers and tactical missions safely and effectively. Reporting to the Vice President, Tactical, their duties and responsibilities will include:Instruction and Training:Conducting classroom, simulator, and in-flight instruction on advanced tactical flying techniques, combat maneuvers, and mission executionDeveloping and implementing training curricula and materials that meet military standards and operational requirementsEvaluating pilot performance through practical assessments and providing constructive feedback to improve skills and competenciesStaying current with new aviation technologies, tactics, and training methodologies to ensure the highest quality of instructionMission Planning and Execution:Assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of training missions and exercisesProviding expertise in tactical mission planning, including threat analysis, route selection, and weapons employmentParticipating in after-action reviews and debriefings to assess mission performance and identify areas for improvementSafety and Compliance:Ensuring all training activities are conducted in accordance with regulations, safety standards, and operational proceduresMonitoring and enforcing adherence to flight safety protocols and risk management practicesMaintaining accurate training records and documentation as required by military authoritiesMentorship and Development:Serving as a mentor and role model for trainee pilots, fostering a culture of excellence, discipline, and continuous improvementProviding guidance and support to pilots in their professional development and career progressionParticipating in the selection and evaluation of pilot candidates for advanced tactical training programsCollaboration and Communication:Working closely with other instructors, mission planners, and support personnel to ensure cohesive and effective training operationsCommunicating effectively with trainees, peers, and superiors, and always maintaining professionalism and respectContributing to the development and enhancement of training programs through feedback and innovationRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in aviation, aeronautical engineering, or a related field is requiredMinimum of 500 hours in a single pilot high performance jet is requiredOperational experience on a front-line fighter aircraft is requiredPrevious instructional experience is preferredA valid Transport Canada (CPL) Commercial Pilot’s Licence (more than 200 hours of flight experience) is requiredValid Military pilot certification is requiredValid Instructor qualification is requiredTransport Canada ratings and endorsements to provide instructions on different types of aircraft are requiredIn-depth knowledge of tactical aviation operations, combat tactics, and mission planningExcellent instructional and presentation skillsProficiency with flight simulators and training softwareExceptional communication and interpersonal skillsStrong analytical and problem solving abilitiesAbility to hold a CAT-1 TC Medical and meet the physical demands of flying and instructing in high-performance aircraftMust complete ITPS standardization after employment o Training Bonds are available to employees who require type rating upgrades.The position involves both office and field environments, including time spent in classrooms, simulators, and in-flight instruction.
