Software Engineer (IBMi AS400)

Our client is seeking an experienced AS400 Developer with deep RPG expertise to help drive modernization and integration across ERP platforms in a fast-paced, agile environment. This role will play a critical part in supporting the sales and marketing verticals, including B2B, e-commerce, and business units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, enhance, and support AS400 systems and platforms.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with software engineers, product owners, and stakeholders to deliver robust solutions.
  • Lead integration efforts across e-commerce and business unit systems, including:
  • Connecting with e-commerce platforms for ordering parts and retrieving ERP details.
  • Supporting Salesforce integration to manage customer-focused ERP functions such as sales data and invoices.
  • Write and refine technical user stories with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Apply development best practices including TDD, code reviews, and secure coding.
  • Support full-stack development efforts and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives.
  • Drive modernization initiatives, helping transition ERP systems away from AS400 toward AWS and full stack technologies in the next fiscal year.
  • Proactively resolve defects, manage technical debt, and ensure smooth progress by addressing blockers quickly.
  • Champion continuous improvement across development methodologies.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years AS400 Development, including RPG, CL, DB2, ILE, SQL.
  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly in supply chain, sales, and marketing domains.
  • Hands-on experience with e-commerce and Salesforce integrations.
  • Exposure to AWS, Java, MongoDB, Aurora, and open-source frameworks.
  • Familiarity with version control systems and TDD practices.
  • Preferred: Application server configuration/administration, distributed environments.
