Our client, a respected leader in the ICI construction sector, is seeking an Assistant Site Superintendent to join their team. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, including those early in their careers. Many technical skills can be developed on the job, but a strong work ethic and the ability to handle the daily demands of a construction site are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily site operations, ensuring work progresses safely and efficiently.
  • Organize and maintain project drawings, shop drawings, and safety documentation from trades.
  • Conduct safety orientations and ensure compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining construction schedules to meet project deadlines.
  • Help coordinate personnel, equipment, and materials to maximize productivity while maintaining a safe and harmonious work environment.
  • Collaborate with the project team, architects, and engineers to resolve design and construction issues as they arise.
  • Interact professionally with building inspectors, public officials, utilities, and Ministry of Labour inspectors.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Building Services, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years+ experience on site as a labourer, foreman or Site Coordinator.
  • Proficient in using laser levels and transits to shoot grades for buildings and civil work.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and scheduling software.
  • Ability to organize and manage project documentation effectively.
  • Familiarity with Ontario construction safety regulations.
  • Experience with producing and updating construction schedules.
  • Capable of coordinating multiple resources to achieve project goals.
  • Aptitude for resolving design, scheduling, and site conflicts with support from the project team.
  • Positive attitude is essential.
  • Professional demeanor and communication skills when dealing with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
