The Company

Our client is a leading Canadian distributor renowned of HVAC and plumbing goods known for their extensive network, diversified portfolio, wide selection of products and exceptional service. They’re looking for a Buyer who will lead the purchasing strategy for assigned product categories, ensuring optimal inventory levels to meet both current and projected sales needs. The Buyer will maintain strong inventory control, balancing stock to maximize turnover, fill rates, and on-time delivery, while collaborating with internal and external partners to expedite orders and maintain purchase orders.

The Job!

  • Drive initiatives to enhance the customer experience and maintain high service standards.
  • Coach, develop, and mentor branch employees to foster growth and operational excellence.
  • Monitor local market trends, identify opportunities, and develop actionable business plans.
  • Work closely with the sales team to support account growth, customer retention, and pricing strategies.
  • Manage house accounts, including maintaining relationships, updating pricing, and applying discounts.
  • Analyze sales data by product category and develop plans to support promotions and sales objectives.
  • Implement strategies to improve operational productivity and reduce slow-moving or obsolete inventory.
  • Coordinate the procurement of non-stock items according to company policies.
  • Support branch operations in technical areas as needed, including customer calls, order entry, and quotations.
  • Assist with branch events, contractor training sessions, and promotional activities.
  • Ensure a safe and organized work environment while protecting company assets.

What you bring to the job

  • 2+ years’ experience in Purchasing.
  • Six months experience in wholesale plumbing and heating
  • College Certificate or equivalent in applicable field.
  • P.M.A.C. or enrolled into it.
  • Computer literate and proficient in MS Office,
  • Prioritizing, time management and organization skills.
  • Communication skills – written and verbal
