Under the supervision of the Director of Merchandising, the Category Manager will be responsible for managing multiple product categories, ensuring alignment with business goals and growth strategies. This role is accountable for market share, shrink, and the categories across both corporate stores and wholesaler customers. As a Category Manager, you’ll drive the business end-to-end—developing strategies, implementing tactics, and maintaining expertise in your product categories through ongoing market research, product and supplier analysis, and detailed financial analysis. Implement product assortment, sales, and buying plans tailored to customer needs and business objectives. Partner with the O’Reilly US team to develop innovative and differentiated products that drive growth for proprietary brands and align with overall strategic goals.
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to optimize sales and profitability.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 3-5 years of relevant buying experience.
A deep understanding of the market and competitive landscape, with the ability to identify and seize opportunities.
Proven track record of developing short- and long-term plans aligned with corporate strategies.
Ability to synthesize customer, competitor, and market insights to inform business decisions.
Strong data management and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Creative problem-solver and strategic thinker with a solid work ethic.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
