Role: CIS Clinical Business Analyst – Documentation(RQ00262 – DH)

About the Role

The Department of Health, New Brunswick is undertaking a major healthcare transformation through the implementation of a province-wide Clinical Information Solution (CIS) under the Symbio Program. This initiative focuses on standardizing clinical practices and modernizing how care is delivered across the province.

We are seeking a Clinical Business Analyst – Documentation to support the standardization, build, and implementation of clinical documentation practices used by physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and other regulated healthcare professionals.

This role works closely with clinical stakeholders, subject matter experts, and project teams to design, validate, and implement documentation standards and workflows within a CIS/EHR environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the standardization, build, and implementation of Clinical Documentation practices and related workflows used throughout the healthcare system
  • Act as a subject matter expert on the impact that CIS and digitization of clinical processes will have on clinical documentation workflows and procedures
  • Facilitate engagement sessions to document current-state processes and validate future-state designs
  • Gather and define business and system requirements, conduct gap analysis, and complete current-state and future-state workflow designs
  • Work closely with clinical stakeholders, subject matter experts, and project teams to design documentation standards adopted province-wide
  • Support seamless adoption of new Clinical Documentation standards
  • Create and maintain detailed process documentation, workflows, use cases, user guides, and training materials
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure smooth delivery and implementation, including effective stakeholder communication plans
  • Participate in build, validation, and testing of clinical content within the CIS

Some after-hours or weekend work may be required with prior approval.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • University degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, or Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated experience as a Clinical Business Analyst or Clinical Informatics Analyst responsible for documentation-related requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, use case analysis, business process analysis, detailed design activities, and business analysis documentation obtained in the last 10 years
  • Demonstrated experience working within acute care Health Information Systems (EHR/CIS) and healthcare operations as it relates to documentation
  • Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst or Clinical Informatics Analyst on health information system or CIS implementation projects, with direct experience supporting documentation-related scope
  • Availability to start work on or about January 19, 2026

Preferred / Scored Experience

  • Demonstrated experience as a Clinical Business Analyst responsible for documentation-related requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, use case analysis, business process analysis, detailed design or build activities, implementation, and business analysis documentation in areas such as CPOE, order sets, clinical documentation, or ancillary services (Pharmacy, Medical Imaging, Lab)
  • Strong verbal and written communication, facilitation, and presentation skills in both French and English
  • Demonstrated facilitation experience leading workshops with healthcare providers to identify business and system requirements and develop user stories or use cases
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of self-direction and collaborate effectively with project teams, subject matter experts, and stakeholders at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and support multiple project streams simultaneously
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365 tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, and Teams
  • Experience using Atlassian JIRA in a project or work environment
  • Previous experience working within public health authorities with an understanding of public healthcare policies and practices
