ASSOCIATE – COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE (2-4 YRS)
With a deep understanding of the business of real estate, the Firm’s Commercial Real Estate Group advises a broad range of clients on sophisticated transactions across the full lifecycle of property ownership, development, leasing, and financing. The group is widely recognized for its technical excellence, practical judgment, and strategic approach to complex real estate matters. The firm’s lawyers regularly integrate real estate expertise with business law, planning and municipal law, tax, mortgage and financing, creditor and debtor law, partnerships and syndications, landlord and tenant law, and litigation.
THE ROLE
The firm is seeking a 2–4 year associate to join its growing Commercial Real Estate Group. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior-to-mid-level associate who is looking to deepen their transactional experience while working closely with senior lawyers on high-quality, sophisticated files. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions and will have meaningful client exposure from an early stage.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Acting on commercial real estate transactions, including purchases, sales, financings, and leasing matters
- Assisting with condominium and subdivision development projects, including acquisitions, development, and sales
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements of purchase and sale, loan documentation, leases, and related transactional documents
- Supporting joint ventures, co-ownerships, partnerships, and limited partnerships related to real estate assets
- Advising on title issues and participating in title repair matters
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across practice groups to deliver seamless, business-oriented solutions
- Managing files efficiently with attention to detail, timelines, and client service
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2–4 years of experience in commercial real estate law at a recognized firm
- Strong foundation in real estate acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and/or commercial leasing
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and organizational skills
- Sound business judgment and a practical, solutions-oriented approach
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to client service excellence
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
