Our client is sourcing a Controller for a 3-month contract.
About the Opportunity
- Shape and guide financial decision-making through the creation, oversight, and reinforcement of internal financial frameworks
- Design and maintain control mechanisms that safeguard organizational resources, workflows, and operational integrity
- Provide hands-on leadership to the accounting function, fostering accountability, collaboration, and efficiency
- Support, develop, and coach team members through ongoing guidance and performance support
- Monitor protections around incoming funds, expenditures, and departmental and company-wide financial plans
- Ensure all financial activity is captured accurately and within required timelines
- Partner with executive leadership to define performance metrics and reporting structures across monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles
- Apply consistent financial methodologies across business units while staying aligned with evolving statutory requirements
- Maintain adherence to all applicable federal, provincial, and professional compliance obligations
- Oversee statutory remittances, including indirect taxes and payroll-related filings
- Prepare and review recurring and period-end accounting adjustments
- Own the integrity and structure of the primary accounting records
- Review and authorize balance sheet and control account reconciliations
- Produce management-level financial reporting with variance and trend analysis
- Build and maintain short-term liquidity forecasting models (13-week and 26-week horizons)
- Contribute to annual planning processes, including forecasts and financial outlooks
- Support financial systems, ERP tools, and accounting technology initiatives
- Coordinate and manage external audit activities and supporting documentation
About You
- Professional accounting designation required (CPA)
- Postsecondary education in accounting, finance, or a related discipline preferred
- Progressive experience in senior accounting or finance roles (5–10 years)
- Demonstrated people-leadership experience (minimum 3–5 years)
- Strong technical proficiency in spreadsheet-based financial analysis
- Practical exposure to Tier 1 or Tier 2 ERP platforms
