Description

As the Controls Design Manager, your day-to-day will be:

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of controls designers for electrical layout and schematics according to NFPA79, NEC, CSA, IEC/EN, and UL508A electrical standards
  • Plan and allocate resources to ensure successful project execution
  • Contribute to all stages of controls design — from concept through commissioning
  • Interpret technical requirements and align them with project specifications
  • Work closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to define scope, deliverables, timelines, and budgets
  • Ensure designs meet quality, compliance, and safety standards
  • Partner with manufacturing and fabrication teams to validate design integrity
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and drive continuous improvement
  • Provide technical support during installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities
  • Collaborate with the sales team by preparing technical input and cost estimates
  • This position includes occasional international travel in support of project delivery.

You will have:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, with 10+ years’ experience in designing industrial control panels, low-voltage power distribution, and automation systems. A P.Eng. designation is an asset.
  • Proven experience in panel design for process equipment (Machinery)
  • Familiarity with electrical standards such as NFPA79, NEC, CSA, IEC/EN, and UL508A
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively
