Job Description

MISSION

The Data Engineer is responsible for continuously developing and improving data engineering initiatives that support critical business processes. Reporting to the Manager of Data Engineering, this role leverages data engineering to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of various teams across Indigo and maintains rigorous data best practices.

  • Contribution to driving the overall data enablement strategy

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Functional

  • Create, manage, and optimize data solutions that support business processes such as product recommendations, store and digital operations, performance marketing, and loyalty projects.
  • Create and manage data products predominantly written in SQL and Python that enable the consumption of data from systems and transform them into standardized domains in our Data Warehouse
  • Collaborate across the organization to seek opportunities to leverage data and data engineering to improve our business outcomes.
  • Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all design and decision-making processes.
  • Challenge the status quo and consistently identify areas for improvement, diagnose issues, and work to resolve them.
  • Contribute to designing and implementing team best practices for development workflows and data governance.
  • Have the ability to navigate ambiguity to progress with projects effectively
  • Exhibit strong decision-making and problem-solving skills that align with our team’s best practice.

SCOPE

Reports to: Manager, Data Engineering

Qualifications

Work Experience / Education / Certifications

  • Completed post-secondary education in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and deploying technical solutions to business problems
  • Strong SQL programming skills required
  • Experience with Snowflake is an asset
  • Experience with an ETL tool, preferably Azure Data Factory
  • Experience with Python is an asset
  • Experience with version control (e.g. Git) and collaboration on codebases
