Director, IT Strategic Sourcing

Location: Remote – Canada

Reports To: President, Global Business Services

Position Summary

The Director of IT Strategic Sourcing is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that optimize the procurement of software, hardware, cloud solutions, and IT services. This role will leverage deep experience in technology purchasing, vendor negotiation, and contract lifecycle management to drive cost savings, mitigate risk, and strengthen vendor partnerships.

Operating in a fully remote capacity in Canada, the Director of IT Strategic Sourcing will collaborate closely with IT, Security, Finance, Legal, and business unit leaders across the enterprise. The role will directly influence technology investment decisions and ensure alignment with corporate objectives while delivering measurable value through effective sourcing practices.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT sourcing strategy that aligns with corporate objectives for cost optimization, innovation, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate, standardize, and modernize the IT vendor portfolio.
  • Partner with IT leadership to forecast technology needs and proactively plan sourcing initiatives.

Procurement & Contract Management

  • Lead end-to-end procurement efforts for software, hardware, SaaS, cloud services, telecommunications, and IT‑centric professional services.
  • Oversee complex contract negotiations including pricing, SLA terms, renewals, and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure all agreements meet corporate compliance, security, data privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the full contract lifecycle from initial sourcing through renewal and performance management.

Vendor Relationship & Performance Management

  • Leverage existing vendor relationships to drive value, secure competitive pricing, and improve service quality.
  • Establish and monitor vendor performance metrics, SLAs, and governance frameworks.
  • Evaluate new suppliers and technologies to support business growth and innovation.

Cost Optimization & Financial Oversight

  • Identify and deliver cost savings through strategic negotiations, consumption management, and vendor consolidation.
  • Provide financial analysis, benchmarking, and spend visibility related to IT investments.
  • Partner with Finance and IT to support annual budgeting and long-range planning.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with IT leaders to ensure sourcing decisions align with technical architecture and roadmap.
  • Work closely with Legal on contract language and risk assessments.
  • Support Security teams in conducting supplier risk evaluations.
  • Communicate sourcing strategy, progress, and outcomes to executive leadership.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10 plus years of progressive experience in IT procurement, strategic sourcing, or technology vendor management.
  • Proven success negotiating large-scale software (including SaaS), hardware, and cloud contracts.
  • Strong understanding of licensing models, IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, and enterprise applications.
  • Experience driving cost savings and process improvements across complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong vendor partnerships and influence at executive levels.
  • Knowledge of contract law, data privacy requirements, and IT compliance considerations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, ITIL) considered an asset.
