Working within a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary engineering environment, the Electrical Designer will be exposed to the design elements of all four disciplines, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering with a primary focus on electrical systems.

Reporting to the Electrical Principal, you are highly organized and detail oriented. Supporting electrical designers and engineers, you will have experience contributing to projects in institutional, industrial, commercial, and healthcare facilities. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of applicable electrical codes, standards, and best practices, including the Ontario Building Code and Canadian Electrical Code.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the development and preparation of electrical contract documents, including drawings and schedules
  • Prepare detailed electrical layouts, schematics, single-line diagrams, and details under the direction of engineers
  • Coordinate project requirements with internal team members across all disciplines as required
  • Apply and continuously develop knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and design criteria
  • Follow all REVIT/CAD standards, QA, and QC procedures during drawing planning and production
  • Work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project team
  • Meet project timelines and support deliverable coordination
  • Assist with Construction Administration activities, including coordination, review, and issuance of Change Orders, Clarifications, and RFI responses as required
  • Assist with site visits and field investigations to document and catalogue existing electrical conditions

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency with REVIT and AutoCAD is required for this role
  • Experience in the preparation, drafting, and design of electrical engineering drawings using applicable standards
  • Demonstrated understanding of construction protocols and processes, with the ability to interpret drawings and specifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Desire for ongoing professional development and skill advancement
  • Valid driver’s license; occasional travel may be required to work sites
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, or an equivalent program
