Health & Safety Professional
Salary: From $85,000–$100,000 CAD (based on experience)

About the Position
Our client is seeking a Health & Safety Professional to ensure workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and a culture of continuous improvement. This position works closely with Plant Managers, Production Managers, Quality Assurance, and front-line supervisors. The role is deadline-driven, requiring exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive a strong safety culture with the mindset that “Only Zero is Acceptable” by engaging employees, leading by example, and encouraging innovation.
- Ensure a safe work environment by applying company standards, correcting unsafe conditions/behaviors, and conducting regular inspections.
- Assist in accident and incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are documented and followed through.
- Champion Near Miss reporting and foster proactive safety practices.
- Maintain knowledge of provincial and federal health & safety laws.
- Collaborate with the EHS Area Manager to implement and enforce health and safety programs.
- Deliver mandatory training to managers, hourly employees, and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with WSIB requirements, as well as provincial, federal, and company safety policies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental programs, records, and reports.
- Communicate safety, food safety, and environmental updates to management.
- Oversee internal, third-party, and regulatory audits, ensuring corrective action plans are completed in a timely manner.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong skills in communication, leadership, problem-solving, and computer literacy.
- Working knowledge of plant operations, particularly in food processing.
- Ability to walk, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and handle extreme temperatures.
- Flexible to work in both office and industrial environments, including off-hours and weekends when required.
- Willingness to travel or relocate to other client facilities.
Education & Experience
- Minimum five years in a dedicated health & safety role, with knowledge of industrial environmental/regulatory compliance, or a degree in Safety.
- Professional certifications such as Board of Certified Safety Professional (BCSP), Fire Protection Specialist, or related credentials are considered assets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
