About Our Client:

Our client is a well-established construction and paving company in South End Ottawa, specializing in road building, parking lots, multi-use pathways, and residential driveways. They work on both private and public projects, including city parks, condo roadways, and federal sites requiring security clearance.

About the role:

We are seeking a skilled Grading Foreman to lead a team in road and parking lot construction. The ideal candidate is experienced in reading plans and specifications, shooting grades with a laser level, and managing excavation for large projects. This is a working foreman role, meaning the candidate will be expected to operate equipment occasionally while leading their crew with a team-focused mentality.

Responsibilities:

· Interpret project plans, specifications, and grade requirements.

· Oversee and manage grading operations for roads, parking lots, and multi-use pathways.

· Use laser levels to shoot grades and ensure proper elevations.

· Supervise and coordinate a crew of 4, including labourers and equipment operators.

· Manage on-site equipment, including trucks and rentals.

· Ensure compliance with project timelines, safety regulations, and quality standards.

· Work on a mix of private, public, and federal projects.

· Occasionally operate machinery as needed to support the crew.

· Report directly to the Operations Manager.

Candidate requirements:

· Experience in road construction, grading, and excavation.

· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

· Proficiency in using laser levels for grading.

· Strong leadership and communication skills to manage a small team.

· Previous experience with public and private sector projects is an asset.

· Security clearance eligibility for federal site work.

· Valid driver’s license (company pickup truck provided for work use).
